CATAPULT offers weekly training Options

CATAPULT offers weekly training options for Physically Challenged (PC) athletes with mobility and visual impairments. We look to establish a culture of open-access workouts to fuel a lifestyle of health and fitness. Our training aims to give our athletes the tools they need to achieve their goals, while providing a fun and encouraging environment!

CATAPULT also needs assistance from our community in the form of sighted guides. If you have ever wanted to guide, join us at a workout! We encourage all guides to have plenty of practice and interaction with our athletes before race day.

Wednesdays - Memorial Park - 7PM to 8PM

CATAPULT meets every Wednesday evening at the Memorial Park Tennis Center, 1500 East Memorial Loop Drive, Houston, TX 77007. Meeting times are from 7:00PM to 8:00PM.

This workout is designed for PC athletes to get in their weekly training miles, and serve as weekly training for our guides and volunteers!

The Park offers a nearly-400m, asphalt track, directly across the street from the Tennis Center. This is great for speed workouts and drills. The alternative option is the 3-mile running trail of packed dirt and crushed rock. This is the most common choice of our athletes as it is well lit, offers water stops nearly every 3/4 of a mile, and has maintained restrooms as well.

Saturday - racepace - 7AM to 10AM

CATAPULT meets every Saturday morning evening at the RacePace running stutio, 1502 Sawyer St #107, Houston, TX 77007. Meeting times are from 7:00AM to 10:00AM, or until the Team is finished.

This workout is designed for PC athletes to complete weekly long-runs in race preparations, and serve as weekly training for our guides and volunteers!

The RacePace runs are fully supported with water stations every few miles. CATAPULT athletes and guides are also granted access to their studio facilities which include lockers and showers. Routes are mapped out by RacePace and vary in distances. The terrain can be road running or the paved bike trials along the White Oak and Buffalo Bayous. These routes simulate race-day conditions as nearly all Houston-area race events are road races.
